When we repent of sin, God forgives us. If you have had an abortion, Jesus is waiting to take you into his arms in forgiveness and love.

The Golden Rule and Equal Rights

This is my first blog. This is my first post. I am moved by the Spirit of God to proclaim loudly and long that our God created life and as our Sovereign King, He alone should determine the beginning and ending of life on earth. We live in an idolatrous time. I believe that the idol we worship the most is Self. What is good for "Me" supersedes all other motives.
Whatever happened to the Golden Rule? Even non-churchgoers, at one time, knew the maxim, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." How can we treat an unborn baby any less than we would treat ourselves? I think that young girls and women (and young boys and men, too) need prodding and conversation to raise their awareness of the life that they carry within them. In a generation that's taught to consider "me, me, me!" first and foremost, there is little hope that many will be aware of others' needs first!
After all, our young people have been educated to think otherwise. They are taught early on, in our own homes, that they must get into a good nursery school, be the best at what ever sport they or their parents elect for them, they should win the poster contests(!), get the touchdowns(!), be the very BEST! Then along comes an unexpected pregnancy and there goes the dream of the Harvard education, the exciting career, the amazing salary. Gone are the trips for a pedicure as visions of pediatric appointments and diapers and empty baby bottles start to fill the minds of our young folks. And this should be. Rearing a baby into adulthood is a challenge and an obligation to hard work.
If a young couple or single girl is truly unable to cope emotionally, financially or in any other way with a child, then of course adoption is a viable option. I have known of many married couples who, longing to hold a sweet young one in their arms, have spent thousands of dollars in trying to have a baby, so great was their need to nurture.
I ask this to any young woman considering an abortion: Please consider placing your gift of life, your unborn baby, in the home of a man and woman who would love your infant and raise that little one as you feel that you are unable to do. You would be helping a loving couple as well as loving your baby enough to give him life. God chose you to have this baby.
Either way, raising your baby yourself or giving your baby up for adoption, requires selflessness. It requires putting your baby's needs above your own. That's what parenting is all about.
A good English translation of the New Testament, the
Weymouth New Testament says "Everything, therefore, be it what it may, that you would have men do to you, do you also the same to them; for in this the Law and the Prophets are summed up." (Matthew 7:12) The Bible is saying that God has been telling us, through His prophets and the rules He has given us to live by, that we are to treat others as we would want to be treated. Unborn babies and all others who can not speak for themselves ought to have equal rights. If they can't speak for themselves then we need to speak for them as we would want to speak for ourselves. Mothers of the unborn: What would your baby say? Would he want to live or would he want to die?
