Many pastors today believe that abortion is a political issue or are even of the opinion that it is a "woman's choice" and are either fearful of upsetting a congregation or have actually bought into the lie that an unborn baby is just a blob of tissue. Many, many verses in the Bible tell us that the Lord is our Creator and forms us in our mother's wombs. There is a reason for every being that our Creator makes. He would never make a senseless "blob of tissue". Every life has a purpose, even if we don't understand what that purpose is.
Pastors, please consider the following verse from Luke 1:15 which speaks of John the Baptist:
“For he will be great in the sight of the Lord; and he will drink no wine or liquor, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while yet in his mother’s womb"
We can not predict when and where the Holy Spirit of our Lord may move.
John3: 8 "The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit."
And finally I would like to add a verse which clearly shows that we human beings, unlike animals, which only have body and soul, are composed of body, soul and spirit.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Just when does the soul and spirit join with the body? If the Lord filled John with His Holy Spirit even before his birth, and we know that man already has a spirit before being indwelt with the Holy Spirit, and there is no valid reason to think otherwise, then we can assume that God creates all three from the beginning. Our triune God (God the father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit) created us in His image ("Our image" as you read here, refers to His triune nature)
Genesis 1:26 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."
We are created in His triune image.
Pastors, you know that we can not predict anything at all about God except for His great love and mercy. If we try to predict that valid life begins at any certain day and time other than the moment of conception, then we are trying to be like God.
I am praying for a peaceful solution and an end to the chaos and nonsense that revolves around the central, important issue of Life.
